Comment Post Cancel. Glen Barrington. Well, After downloading the free trial, I've got to say, there isn't much here for the raw shooter. Some nice additions for the person who uses the Edits tab a lot.
But there's nothing here for me. I'll continue to test a bit longer but at this point, the most I can say about Pro 8, is they don't appear to have broken anything I like. I have changed my mind about the upgrade. I think this upgrade is pretty useful. It's true a person who is a Develop tab only user doesn't really have a strong reason to upgrade.
But the problem is, the recent Edit tab upgrades like pixel targeting offer a pretty strong reason to consider altering the workflow to include a stronger reliance on a bit mapped editing. With Pentax pef and dng files they would always appear flat, lifeless and take a good bit of tweaking to get to the point of the embedded JPG.
Since All showed under exposure, any adjustment introduced noise. This wasn't the case using Pentax software, the exposure shown was correct. The 'Pat' answer I always received was to create a preset, RAW converters all render differently, some camera settings aren't included, blah, blah, blah.
Also 1 preset never covered all files. Right now it's showing a slight difference between JPG embedded and the RAW in develop, not the drastic change I had with previous versions.

Of course the settings are identical for all three programs. Likes 1. I went to upgrade but the links don't seem to be active. Only the full purchase seems active option. Dana - Interesting observation. I'm checking with the Developers as to any changes in Pro8 to the Pentax raw develop algorithm. I'll post back when I get the full story. Kap55 - You are correct that with Pro8, the majority of the upgrade seems to have gone to Edit Mode. But, as you are also aware, Pro6 and Pro7 were lopsided toward Develop Mode.
